Technology Culture
It is human nature to try and find the easiest way to do something. It’s the reason we tamed animals to carry us and our possessions, to plow our fields. The industrial revolution brought about the invention of cleverly and carefully built machines that could produce many times over what humans tried to produce with their own hands. In the past several decades, the computer has been hailed as man’s greatest invention, because it is capable of performing tasks once given to man, but with more efficiency and accuracy. As technology evolves, we have found ourselves phased out by computers. Most Wal-Marts have more self-checkout machines than human clerks these days. Many car wash centers are completely automated, requiring only one technician on site to remedy any potential and unlikely problems. It is little surprise that vending machines have experienced such popularity and evolution in the past few years. Fully automated, requiring little work except restocking and working better when unattended, the industry draws many people each year to invest in their own vending machines and route.
